For most #NFT creators today, royalties are suggestions – a request of good faith to honor the original artist as a given piece is sold and resold throughout its lifetime. This drawback gives marketplaces and resellers the ability to simply opt-out of royalty payments, and that is what we have seen as more marketplaces contend to offer the most competitive prices.
On #Hedera, royalties are codified and enforced at the protocol level at time of minting. Creators are enabled to set in stone how much compensation they believe they are entitled to sale after sale, empowering artists at the ground level and throughout.
