Everydays: The First 5000 Days
“The most expensive NFT”

Starting May 2007, digital artist Mike Winkelmann or better known as Beeple, committed to creating a new artwork every single day.

Over 13 years, he crafted 5,000 pieces of drawings, digital paintings, 3D art, and social commentary.

Building skill and vision, with a unique record of time.

These everyday artworks chronicle his style evolving, from basic sketches to digital paintings.

In early 2021, Beeple stitched all 5,000 images, into a massive digital collage for “Everydays: The First 5000 Days”.

Then, he minted it as an NFT, a unique digital asset whose ownership could be recorded on blockchain.

On March 11, 2021, at legendary auction house Christie’s, in the first-ever major auction of a purely digital artwork, Everydays sold for a jaw-dropping US$ 69.3 million.

The buyer is an NFT-collecting fund Metapurse, paid in cryptocurrency. The sale rocketed Beeple into the top ranks of living artists by auction price.

That moment didn’t just sell an artwork, it launched the NFT art boom. Suddenly, digital creations were taken seriously by major art institutions and collectors worldwide.

Everydays proved that digital art can carry real provenance, value, and legitimacy. What was once dismissed as copyable, now became collectible, ownable, even historic.
