NFT prices suck compared to the peak.
So if price was the whole point… why are people still buying NFTs?
That’s the question we asked on stage at NFT.NYC 2026.
For years, NFTs were judged almost entirely by one thing:
How much money can I make from this?
Floor price.
Resale value.
Speculation.
Hype.
Then the market collapsed.
And yet, the people didn’t completely disappear.
Projects kept building. Communities stayed together. People kept collecting, gaming, creating, networking, and showing up to events like NFT.NYC.
So clearly, something survived.
Price didn’t survive. Something else did.
That’s what this conversation is really about.
If NFTs were only valuable because they could go up in price, the entire space should have disappeared when the hype died.
But it didn’t.
The next question is:
What actually survived the NFT crash—and why does it still matter?
That answer might be more important than the price ever was.
